Zara Amdur
Research Fellow
Bio: Zara Amdur is an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy department at Texas Tech University. She holds a PhD in Philosophy and a MA in Classical Studies from Boston University. Her research focuses on the ethical and epistemological implications of gendered metaphors in Plato. Her ongoing projects include papers on Socratic midwifery, self-cultivation, and the epistemic vices of Socrates’ interlocutors. While at the center, Zara will be working on a series of papers that draw on Iris Murdoch and Plato in order to argue that generativity is an ethically rich metaphor that deserves greater recognition in our discussions of beauty, love, and attention.
